Stretching
upward from the gorgeous Unaka Valley of East Tennessee, is a
land of ancient tumbling streams, deep green forests, and a
living wild equaled only in the Great Smoky Mountains National
Park. That land is the extraordinary 10,000-acre Rocky Fork
Watershed. Once threatened by developers but now under contract
by The Conservation Fund. The opposite side of the valley raises
the Unaka Mountains. Home to Beauty Spot (an open bald offering
beautiful 360-degree panoramic views), and the deep dark spruce
forest of Unaka Mountain summit.
The workshop will begin on Friday afternoon and will
introduce the participants to conservation/environmental as well
as natural history photography. We will explore the beautiful
streams, secluded hollows and beautiful bayberry rhododendron
bloom of Rocky Fork and enjoy the open balds, and the dark
spruce forests of the Unaka Mountains. The workshop will
conclude late on Sunday evening.
Lodging choices will be modern comfortable motels or
campgrounds near each location. Workshop fees cover tuition
only. Lodging, travel and meals are not included.
