Great Smoky Mountains National Park "Autumn Majesty"

Townsend, Tennessee  •  October 21 - 24, 2012 • Tuition: $825

Autumn in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park is an extraordinary event!  The Park contains the last large piece of the southern Appalachian forest and some of the richest biological diversity in the United States. From the spruce fir forests on the highest peaks to the hardwood forests in sheltered valleys, we will experience the wonder of photographing in the deep woods, from magnificent exposed ridge tops, and along its beautiful flowing streams at the height of autumn color. © Jerry Greer Photography / EnviroStock Media

Greenbriar, Roaring Fork, Tremont, Clingmans Dome, and Cades Cove are just a few locations that guarantee the nature photographer receive firsthand, the wonderful “Smokies Experience”!

Join Jerry for an intensive creative experience, while photographing in some of his favorite places of the Park. Learn to look beyond the superficial aspects of photographing nature to gain a deeper connection with the natural landscape and its inhabitants.

This workshop is perfect for the people who already have a basic understanding of digital cameras and want to take their photography to the next level. During the field and evening sessions Jerry will be instructing on the basis of “controlling the technical aspect of nature photography, concentrating energies, and driving personal vision”. Our group size will be limited to only 10 participants.

Participants are responsible for transportation during the workshop, local accommodations, and meals. Townsend, TN is less than two miles from the main Park entrance. Carpooling for field sessions is encouraged. Once registered for the workshop, lodging information will be emailed so that final arrangements can be secured.

Getting to these wonderful locations is not physically strenuous but will require sturdy hiking shoes or boots. Water-shoes and/or sport sandals are a must for getting those wonderful “frame-filling” cascading stream photos made famous in the Smokies.

The workshop will begin at 3:00pm on Sunday, and end Wednesday at 3:00pm. Participants requiring air transportation, McGhee Tyson Airport – Knoxville (TYS) in Alcoa, TN is the closest and is approximately 30 minutes from Townsend and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
